Flower Garden Pictures: Things To Consider When Taking Photographs Of Gardens

Taking photographs of flower gardens is not really as easy as you think. Yes, you can just snap pictures with your camera anytime but if you really want some quality flower garden pictures that you can use in prints or sell to people, there are certain things that you need to consider before you start taking flower garden pictures. Always remember that taking good flower garden pictures takes a lot of patience and skills on your part so do not take shortcuts if you want to earn money from your flower garden pictures.

Good Lighting

One of the basic things that you need to consider if you want to take good flower garden pictures is the lighting. If you intend to use daylight, take pictures only during the early morning or late afternoon. The early morning light especially around six to eight in the morning are ideal when taking outdoor pictures. At this time, the sun still gives out soft light that will enhance the color of the flowers. Furthermore, flowers usually look more vibrant in the morning especially during sunrise so take advantage of this situation. After eight in the morning, the sun is usually too glaring for the camera that if you are not exceptionally good at using your camera, you will end up with bleached out flower garden pictures. Many professional photographers do not like to take flower garden pictures after eight in the morning so if you want to get good results, follow their lead.

On the other hand, the late afternoon light especially around four to six in the afternoon will provide you will some dramatic play of light. If you want to have flower garden pictures with dramatic backgrounds, take your pictures just before sunset. If you are in a hot and humid part on the country, take you pictures are you have watered your flower gardens in the afternoon to make sure that the flowers do not look anemic and wilted.

Composing Your Pictures

Panoramic flower garden pictures can be very beautiful especially if you take it from an angle which brings out the best colors from the garden. To get the best flower garden pictures, take as many pictures as possible from different angles. Take wide and close crop pictures for variation. When taking pictures of flowers, you have to follow the natural symmetry of the flowers to give an illusion of energy. Avoid flat angles.
