However, for many just being outdoors is half the fun with the results of their labors being its own reward.
Although gardening may seem like a lot of work for some folks, to others it can serve as a kind of therapy, helping to reduce stress and instill a feeling of accomplishment. When the products of flower and garden work become visible, bursting with color or standing tall with fresh vegetables the gardener can stand back and feel proud about the results of their labor.

From getting the soil to grow strong, healthy plants while remaining weed free is a job in itself and many consider the work a labor of love.

Another aspect of gardening often overlooked is the responsibility it can instill in younger children. When a parent or grandparent can have them commit to a certain section of a flower and garden space, making it their own personal responsibility, they tend to take the job more seriously and can develop the responsible attitude that will serve them later in life.
Most will agree that when planning and working flower and garden plots, they actually look forward to seeing a successful conclusion to the growing season for which they planned. Whether it is a small flower bed or a vegetable garden for produce for their own use, the time and effort expended is worth it in more than just the product.
